As a Senior Engineering Manager within our Technology Services Engineering Team, you will be a key driver and doer in a fundamental shift in how we architect and host our application estate to ensure that we can take our platform operating model to the next level. You will be an advocate to enable a composable technology foundation which will enable our Product development teams in building our digital foundation of the future to help delivering for our global customer base.
Your focus will be on both assisting in the ideation and realisation of what our next generation platform will encompass, as well as then helping our Product teams in implementing products that are aligned to this long-term Platform vision.
To realise Maersk’s “One Customer Journey”, a consistent and resilient platform is essential. You will be key in helping promote ‘the right way’ in how we utilise technology in delivering on this promise.
To help to make our next generation platform successful, we are looking for key individuals to join our Technology Services Engineering team to help shape this vision and be pivotal in transforming how we do business with customers and vendors.

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will demonstrate the following characteristics: –

Motivating staff and fostering collaboration
Currently the tech stack is not 100% fixed but we have a strong preference for commercial experience of opensource plus cloud technologies. The ideal candidate will have a background that spans development, architecture, and operations. We are looking for professionals that can provide expert coverage over three primary areas, plus some ability across all areas.

DevOps – Github, Terraform
Backup – Commvault, Cohesity, Rubrik, Microsoft Site Recovery, Google Backup
Hypervisor – KVM, AVH, Vmware
Database – Oracle, Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
Operational System – RHEL, Windows
Container – Kubernetes, Docker
Domain driven design experience and understand how to create composable microservices and API’s

Key Responsibilities
Lead engineering team in the development and maintenance of infrastructure components, that are scalable, secure and reliable
Set the technical standards for the teams according to guardrails given by the Platform Technology Leader and or Enterprise Architecture team
Drive compliance and adherence to processes amongst the team, while defining and improving existing processes
Attract, hire, develop and maintain high quality engineering leaders while strengthening morale and cohesion across the teams
Provide high-level technical contributions to customer relationships and foster service-focused engineering environment
Ensure product architecture and implementation is optimized for speed, scalability, and reusability
Working with teams across the organization to deliver outcomes for the business stakeholders to define and evolve products from concept to reality.
Leading lean thinking across teams, focusing on removal of waste in process and handoff points across the lifecycle
Owner of objectives key results/performance indicator framework and metrics reporting; reporting on team effectiveness (e.g. time to value, release cadence, availability, NPS)
Collaborate with multi-functional teams to develop a comprehensive understanding of the key drivers and opportunities within the business
Apply tools, methodologies and standard methodologies for the improvement of the product development process, and to facilitate simple fast and cloud-based releases
Meet financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analysing variances; initiating corrective actions
Create a world class capability in an environment where people can realize their full potential, being a natural bar-raiser that is curious and passionate with a desire to continuously learn

Key skills and capabilities
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering
12+ years of experience and minimum 5+ years of leading engineering teams at scale
Solid experience building products from the ground up in an Agile team environment
A strong passion for infrastructure as code and associated automation and provisioning tools.
Led teams through fast paced development cycles; committed to automation, agile, lean-startup, continuous delivery approach
Able to work across organizational boundaries and matrixed reporting structures
Ability to fully understand business goals and metrics, turn data into insights, and translate requirements into actionable analysis
Able to present and communicate technical concepts in a clear and concise manner
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, supported by excellent written and oral communication
Exhibit a strong work ethic and technical thought-leadership
Inspiring and approachable as a leader; Ability to motivate and inspire team to overcome challenges and focus on problem-solving
